Estimating Landscaping

NOTE-- We retired the BidMagic construction estimating software in 2001. It has been replaced by Goldenseal construction estimating software.

We still include this BidMagic estimating software manual as a convenience for users of our older program. Many features are similar, in Goldenseal estimating.

The BidMagic construction estimating software includes unit costs for landscaping.

Landscaping Estimating

This category covers final grading, fencing, plantings, and other exterior ground work.

NOTE: If you subcontract landscaping for a flat fee, you can enter the actual bid directly instead of itemizing costs (see page 255).

Landscaping Cost Subcategories

BidMagic landscaping estimating software divides Landscaping costs into several subcategories:

Finish Grading covers the final contouring, raking and spreading of topsoil on the yard area.

Fencing includes any wood or metal fencing outside the building.

NOTE: Temporary construction fencing is covered under Temporaries (see page 281).

Special Surfaces includes brick, flag stones, marble chips, and other surface materials outside the building.

Walls & Stairs covers exterior retaining walls and steps built from railroad ties, landscape timbers or stone. Concrete or masonry walls can go here if built by the landscaper--otherwise use the Concrete or Masonry cards.

Plantings handles lawn grasses, ground covers, trees, shrubs and other ornamental vegetation.

Roads & Drives covers installation of driveways or roads.

NOTE: Excavation work for roads and drives, will probably go under that category instead.

Other Landscaping gives you a place to put any other landscaping work not handled elsewhere on this card.
