Locking Nudge Buttons |
A lockable nudge button acts just like a regular nudge button when it is unlocked--clicking on the upper half of the button increases the number in its field, and clicking on the lower half of the button decreases it. If you hold down the Command key when you click on a lockable nudge button, you will 'lock' it. The button will change to a padlock , and its field will no longer be editable. When a nudge button is locked, its field will contain a 'suggested' quantity that is based on numbers entered in other parts of the BidMagic estimating software. For example, the Number of Stairways is equal to the number of stories (including basement) minus one. NOTE: Dimensions are 'suggested' by fixed formulas that are built into BidMagic. Specifications use formulas that you can edit yourself. If you increase the number of stories, the number of stairways will change, so the number displayed in the locked field will also be updated. HINT: In general, you should keep all lockable nudge buttons locked, unless you are sure that the 'suggested' quantity for that item is not correct. That way, if you change any basic construction dimensions such as the length of walls or the ceiling height, all the quantities that are affected by the change will automatically be updated. To lock
all of the lockable nudge buttons on a card, choose Lock Card from the Bid menu. To lock
all the lockable values throughout the estimate, choose Lock Dimensions and/or Lock Specifications from the
Bid menu. |
