Nudge Buttons

NOTE-- We retired the BidMagic construction estimating software in 2001. It has been replaced by Goldenseal construction estimating software.

We still include this BidMagic estimating software manual as a convenience for users of our older program. Many features are similar, in Goldenseal estimating.

Every BidMagic number field has a nudge button next to it. You can use these buttons to enter numbers with the mouse, without ever having to touch the keyboard. Some nudge buttons can also be 'locked' or 'unlocked,' so you can choose between a 'suggested' quantity and a number that you enter yourself.

Changing Numbers with Nudge Buttons

To change the quantity in any numeric field, click on the nudge button to the left of the field.

Click in the upper half of the nudge button to increase the field by a set amount--either 1, 10, 100 or 1000, depending on what is most logical for that field.

Click in the lower half of the nudge button to decrease the field by the same amount.

Hold down the Option key to reduce the amount of increase or decrease by one tenth.

EXAMPLE: If the field normally changes by 1,000, with the Option key down it only changes by 100.

Hold down the Shift key to multiply the increase or decrease by a factor of ten.

EXAMPLE: If the field normally changes by 1,000, with the Shift key down it changes by 10,000.

If you keep holding down the mouse button, the field will continue to change until you lift up on the mouse button.

NOTE: When the cursor is in the upper half of the nudge button, the field increases. When the cursor is in the lower half of the button, the field decreases. Hold down the Option or Shift key to change the amount of increase or decrease while the button is still moving.

If the nudge button moves too quickly or too slowly, change its speed on the Preferences card in the BidMagic construction estimating software.
