Estimating Insulation Quantities |
The BidMagic construction estimating software calculates quantities for insulation work. Insulation Quantities In this section you'll enter quantities used for the installation of fiberglass, foam, cellulose or other types of insulation materials. Insulation Thickness Enter the thickness of insulation (in inches) used on ceilings, exterior walls, interior walls, floors and foundations. NOTE: Interior wall insulation refers to materials normally used for sound-deadening rather than for thermal insulation. If you use different insulation thicknesses on different parts of the project, enter either the average thickness, or the thickness used on the largest area. NOTE: If you always subcontract insulation on a fixed price basis, or if you never use insulation, you may ignore this section. Insulation Areas If locked, each of these quantities will be calculated for you, based on the values entered in earlier Dimensions cards. For remodeling projects, all room surfaces that were highlighted in the Insulation section will be included here. NOTE: To determine whether to use gross or net areas for insulation quantities, make a choice on the Insulation line on the Preferences card (see page 96). You should only need to change the calculated insulation quantities if, for some reason, you are insulating more or less area than suggested. NOTE: In this section you only need to worry about the overall surface area that will be insulated. The actual types of insulation to be used will be handled in Specifications on the Insulation card.
