Estimating Specifications |
Using Specifications Specifications is the place in the BidMagic estimating software where you'll describe exactly which materials and construction methods are being used in the construction project you're bidding. This portion of BidMagic uses a 'checklist' approach--many possible construction items are available, and you'll choose which of them will actually be included in the bid. Specifications covers the full range of construction 'hard' costs. It divides them into 31 construction categories, each with its own card. NOTE: General Conditions is split into two cards, and Framing is split into three cards. Cleanup and Equipment share the same card. To prepare a bid, check each Specs card and make sure you've included every possible piece of work. Each Specifications card allows you to enter specific line item costs--one or more of them under each subcategory. You can choose line item costs from a 'stock' price book of unit prices, or you can enter them 'on the fly' while putting together a bid. NOTE: The prices in Specifications are based on 'hard' construction costs--the actual labor and materials needed to perform the work itself. These hard costs will have 'soft' costs such as overhead, profit and sales tax added to them in the Bottom Line. Once you have entered all possible line item costs, you'll be finished with your BidMagic bid.
