Estimating Decks and Porches

NOTE-- We retired the BidMagic construction cost estimating software in 2001. It has been replaced by Goldenseal construction estimating software.

We still include this BidMagic estimating software manual as a convenience for users of our older program. Many features are similar, in Goldenseal estimating.

The BidMagic construction estimating software includes project measurements for decks, porches and sheds.

Decks

If the project includes the construction of any outdoor decks, turn on the Deck button.

NOTE: Any outdoor framed structure left open to the sky can be considered a deck. Do not include exterior concrete slabs, brickwork or stone patios.

Enter the floor area of decking, the length of exterior walls around its perimeter, and the length of its contact with the existing building.

NOTE: Do not include the contact wall between the deck and the main structure as a part of the perimeter.

Porches

If the project includes the construction of any outdoor porches, turn on the Porch button.

NOTE: Any (usually open-sided) outdoor framed structure with a roof over it can be considered a porch.

Enter the floor area of the porch, the length of exterior walls around its perimeter, and the length of its contact with the existing building.

NOTE: Do not include the contact wall between porch and main structure as a part of the perimeter.

Sheds

If the project includes the construction of any sheds, barns or other outdoor storage structures, turn on the Shed button.

NOTE: Any outdoor framed structure with walls and a roof over it can be considered a shed.
Enter the floor area of the shed, the length of exterior walls around its perimeter, and the length of its contact with the existing building.
