Estimating Landscaping

NOTE-- We retired the BidMagic construction estimating software in 2001. It has been replaced by Goldenseal construction estimating software.

We still include this BidMagic estimating software manual as a convenience for users of our older program. Many features are similar, in Goldenseal estimating.

The BidMagic construction estimating software includes project measurements for landscaping and other ground work.

Ground Work and Misc Items

If the project will include any exterior grading, landscaping or cleanup, turn on the Ground Work button.

Enter the Yard Area. For new construction, the yard will consist of any area in lawn or other landscaping. For an addition or remodeling project, enter just the area immediately around the project that will need landscaping and cleanup.

Enter the Lot Area. The lot size will consist of the entire property associated with the project, even if parts of it are not treated as yard.

NOTE: In most city and suburban projects, Yard Area and Lot Area will be identical. If you lock the Lot Area field, it will always be equal to the Yard Area.

Enter the approximate trash volume that will be removed from the jobsite, measured in 40 cubic yard loads.

Enter the total project volume, or lock the field and have BidMagic calculate it for you. This number is sometimes used for building permits or for 'rule of thumb' prices.

Enter the average ground slope near the building, measured in inches of vertical rise per foot of horizontal run.
