Using Cycle Buttons

NOTE-- We retired the BidMagic construction estimating software in 2001. It has been replaced by Goldenseal construction estimating software.

We still include this BidMagic estimating software manual as a convenience for users of our older program. Many features are similar, in Goldenseal estimating.

The BidMagic estimating software uses cycle buttons to let you select from several different choices. For example, on the Basic Costs card, a cycle button is used to choose a Locality Factor.

When you click on a cycle button or on the icon next to it, the icon moves to the next choice in a list of two or more possible items.

If you keep holding down the mouse button, the icon will continue to cycle through the available choices, until you re;ease the mouse button. Hold down the Shift key to move backwards through the list of choices.
Viewing a Pop-up List

To see a pop-up list of all the available choices used in a cycle button, hold down the Option key while you click on the button or its icon.

Choose any item from the list, and it will be used.

Editing Cycle Lists

Some cycle buttons allow you to change the values through which the button cycles.

  1. To add new cycle items, change values or delete items from the list, follow these steps:
  2. Hold down the Option key and click the cycle button.
  3. Choose Edit Choices from the bottom of the menu.
  4. You'll see a box that displays the cycle button values on the left, and their matching values on the right
  5. To add a new item, click immediately to the right of an item in the list on the left, type the Return key, then enter a new item. Click immediately to the right of the item in the same row on the right, type the Return key, then enter a new numerical value for the item. WARNING: It is very important that you put both the item name and its value into the same line!
To delete an item, select the row on the left, then use the Delete key to eliminate it completely. Also select the exactly corresponding row on the right, and use Delete to eliminate it completely.
  6. To change any item, select the text you'd like to change and type in new text from the keyboard.
  7. Once you've made all desired changes to the cycle list, click the OK button.

NOTE: Click the Cancel button to leave without making any changes to the list.
