Estimating Category Systems

NOTE-- We retired the BidMagic construction estimating software in 2001. It has been replaced by Goldenseal construction estimating software.

We still include this BidMagic estimating software manual as a convenience for users of our older program. Many features are similar, in Goldenseal estimating.

Using Different Cost Category Systems

The Transfer Manager uses a Category Code Master, which translates the BidMagic construction cost categories to MacNail, CSI, or other category systems used in MacNail.

If you are using 'stock' MacNail estimators, you don't need to do anything special with the Category Code Master.

If you use MacNail Customizing to create a new estimator with a new category system, follow these steps:
1. Open the BidMagic Files folder that is inside the BidMagic folder.
2. Find the Category Code Master, and drag it into the Trash Can.
3. In future transfers between BidMagic and MacNail, the Category Code Master that is inside the Customizing folder will now be used--it contains the new MacNail category system, so the transfers can still work smoothly.

WARNING: If you are using a copy of MacNail Customizing that was shipped before October 1, 1993, refer to the supplementary instruction sheet that came with BidMagic. It will explain how to add the new BidMagic categories to that program.
