Estimating Drywall and Wall Finishes

Wall, Ceiling & Drywall Estimating

The Interior Walls & Ceiling category includes wallboard and other interior wall and ceiling finishes. To get to the Walls & Ceiling card, click on the Interior Work button on the Specs Directory, then choose Interior Walls & Ceiling from the pop-up menu.

Drywall Cost Subcategories

BidMagic estimating software divides the Interior Walls & Ceiling category into several cost subcategories.

Wallboard Hanging covers the installation of gypsum wallboard, tile backer board, and similar board materials on walls and ceilings. Finishing the wallboard is handled in the next subcategory.

NOTE: For 1/2" wallboard, BidMagic suggests the entire wall and ceiling area minus 200 square feet in each bathroom. In each bathroom it suggests 150 square feet of MR (waterproof) board, plus 50 square feet of tile backer board. You can change these suggested formulas if your own projects typically use other materials (see pages 262-271).

Plaster & Taping includes plastering, skim coating, taping and texturing on walls and ceilings.

Paneling & Wainscoting handles the installation of plywood and hardboard paneling, v-groove wood paneling and wainscoting boards.

Ceiling Tiles & Panels covers the installation of acoustic ceiling tiles, suspended ceilings, and similar ceiling finishes.

Wall & Ceiling Repairs includes patching of plaster and other ceiling repairs.

Other Wall & Ceiling Work gives you a place to put any other wall and ceiling work that doesn't fall into one of the other categories on this card.
