Estimate Backups

NOTE-- We retired the BidMagic construction bidding software in 2001. It has been replaced by Goldenseal construction estimating software.

We still include this BidMagic bidding software manual as a convenience for users of our older program. Many features are similar, in Goldenseal estimating.

It's a good idea to make one or more backup copies of each bid you are working with, so you won't lose valuable work if the file is damaged, your hard drive dies, or some other catastrophe occurs.

If disk space is tight, use BidMagic archive files to store backups of project information. If you have plenty of disk space, you can also create full backup copies, which will be instantly useable by the BidMagic construction estimating software.

To make a full backup copy while you are working in an estimate, follow these steps:

  1. Choose Save a Copy from the File menu.
  2. Type in a new name for the backup copy of the file, and find a place to put it. For best results, put the backup copy onto another hard drive or removeable drive, or onto a floppy disk.
  3. Click OK.

To use the Finder to make a backup copy onto another hard drive, over a network, onto a removeable hard drive, or onto a floppy disk, follow these steps:

  1. While in the Finder, mount the second hard drive or removable disk, or insert the floppy disk into the floppy disk drive. Make sure its icon is visible on the Desktop.
  2. Click on the icon for the file you'd like to back up, and drag it onto the icon for the backup disk.
  3. If you are asked whether to replace an existing copy of the file, click OK.
  4. A second copy of the file will be created on the second disk.
