NOTE-- We retired the BidMagic construction estimating
software in 2001. It has been replaced by Goldenseal construction
estimating software.
We still include this BidMagic estimating software manual
as a convenience for users of our older program. Many features are
similar, in Goldenseal estimating.
The BidMagic estimating software allows you to save extremely compact archive files that store all information about
the project. These files are very easy to back up. If you ever need to 'reconstitute' the project estimate,
you can import it back into a blank BidMagic or a blank template.
HINT: An archive file only takes up about
30K on your hard drive or backup medium.
To create an archive, follow these steps:
If necessary, double-click on the estimate file
so BidMagic is running.
Choose Create Archive from the Data menu.
Enter a name for the archive file. If you'd
like to save it elsewhere on your hard drive or on another disk, navigate to the new location.
Click
OK. An archive file will be created automatically--the process may take a few minutes.
To restore an archive,
follow these steps:
Make a new blank estimate.
Choose Import Archive from the Output menu.
Locate the archive you want to use. You may need
to 'navigate' through folders on your hard drive, or
through other drives.
Click OK. The old project will be brought into the currently active estimate
file--the process
may take several minutes.
