Finding Contract Text

NOTE-- We retired MacNail construction software in 2000, and replaced it with Goldenseal: a complete, integrated business software package for Macintosh and Windows. Goldenseal handles construction spec writing, plus accounting, construction estimating, and project management, It creates text contracts that are similar to those created by MacNail Spec Writer.

Finding Text

At times you may need to locate a particular clause in a large contract that was created from the MacNail construction management software. Fortunately, the computer is good at text-searching, and can get you there quickly by looking for a key word in the clause.

To find any kind of text in a word processor document, follow these steps:

1. Choose the Find or the Find/Change command.
2. Type in the word or phrase you'd like to find.
NOTE: The dialog may look slightly different, depending on your word processor.
3. Click Start Search, Find or Find Next (depending on your word processor). The next instance of the text will be highlighted.
4. Repeat step 3 as many times as needed until the desired text is found.

HINT: Text searching is also useful for finding error messages due to problems in the estimate (see page 61) or for finding allowance items (see page 74).
