Contract File Names

NOTE-- We replaced MacNail construction software with Goldenseal, in 2000. The MacNail manuals are still online, as a courtesy to folks who still use it. Goldenseal is a complete software package for Macintosh and Windows, which includes construction spec writing, accounting, construction estimating, and project management,

Choosing File Names

Any file name can be used for headers or footers in the MacNail construction management software . However, if the text will generally be treated as a header (before Specifications), it's a good idea to include Header in the file name. If the text is usually treated as a footer (after Specifications), it's a good idea to include Footer in the file name.

Since headers and footers will be added to the contract in alphabetical order, put them at the beginning of the list if they belong in front of the other files, or put them at the end of the list if they belong after other files in the MacNail project management software .

HINT: To put headers or footers at the beginning of the list, put one or more spaces at the beginning of the file name. To put headers or footers at the end of the list, you can use the backslash (\) key. Other punctuation can also be used in file names to arrange headers or footers into a different order.
