Writing Construction Contract Language |
NOTE-- We retired MacNail Spec Writer and the rest of the MacNail construction software, back in 2000. It has been replaced with Goldenseal, a complete software package for Macintosh and Windows that handles contract writing, plus accounting, construction estimating, and project management, Goldenseal has an improved system of contract writing, using the same contract text that we used in MacNail. Construction Contract Legal Language The MacNail construction management software includes legal language that covers many construction issues and situations. You can consider it a good starting point for creating contract language to exactly suit your own business needs. NOTE: Turtle Creek Software cannot guarantee any of the legal language provided with Spec Writer. Before you use the program, we strongly suggest that you consult your own legal counsel to check its compliance with state and local laws, and its suitability to your own needs. Writing Clear Contracts When writing your own legal language for the MacNail project management software, try to be as clear and direct as possible. Eschew obfuscation! Nearly all clients appreciate plain language contracts, and you'll usually get better results if you eliminate whereas, aforementioned, hithertofore, party of the first part, and other legal jargon. In general, just write out new contract language as clearly and simply as you can, then check it with legal counsel to make sure it says exactly what you mean it to say. |
