Project Scheduling Tutorial Start

NOTE-- MacNail construction software is now retired-- in 2000, we replaced it with Goldenseal construction software. Goldenseal is an integrated program that handles simple construction project scheduling, plus accounting, construction estimating, and project management features. Creating project schedules is much easier in Goldenseal, since the program calculates the start time of each construction line item, as soon as you enter it.

Starting the Scheduling Tutorial

The MacNail project management software will help you to manage projects that were set up using MacNail Estimating. It will also help you with material takeoffs, tool lists, punch lists, and general "to do" lists and other reminders. This tutorial will show you a sampling of MacNail's scheduling abilities.

Before starting this tutorial, you must have Microsoft Excel installed on your hard disk. If you haven't done this yet, follow the installation instructions in your Excel manual.

Before starting this tutorial, you must also have MacNail Scheduling 3.0 installed on your hard disk. If you haven't done this yet, follow the instructions on page 11.

To start up in the MacNail construction scheduling software:
1. First double-click on the MacNail Manager (located just outside the Schedules folder, inside your MacNail folder).
2. When asked which module to work on, click Schedules, then click OK.
3. The Scheduling Manager will be opened, and scheduling menu commands will be added to the menu bar.

NOTE: Another way to start MacNail Scheduling-- double-click directly on the Scheduling Manager (located just inside the Schedules folder).
