Project Lead Times

NOTE-- In 2000 we retired MacNail, and replaced it with Goldenseal construction software. However we still keep the manuals online, for die-hard MacNail users! Goldenseal runs on Macintosh and Windows computers, and handles accounting, construction estimating, and project management, plus simple construction project scheduling. There are also lead time calculations in Goldenseal scheduling.

Getting Lead Times

You can have the MacNail construction scheduling software tell you when to order building permits, windows, doors, tile, cabinets, rough inspections and the final inspection. The lead times are based on advance-ordering information that you enter using the *Scheduling Options command.

To set lead times:

1. Choose *Scheduling Options from the Options menu, and make sure that the lead times look correct for this project. If not, type in new numbers, then click OK (see page 97).
2. Choose *Lead Times from the Formula menu.
3. Ordering lead times will be calculated, and placed at the bottom of the schedule (just below the completion date).

4. You can click in the completion window and scroll down slightly to see the lead time dates in the MacNail project management software.

NOTE: If the schedule is changed, all advance-ordering dates will be adjusted automatically.
