NOTE-- In 2000 we retired MacNail, and replaced it with the improved Goldenseal construction software. However we still keep the manuals online, for die-hard MacNail users! Goldenseal is an integrated program that handles accounting, construction estimating, and project management, plus simple construction project scheduling. Our new software runs on Macintosh and Windows, and has been top-rated by reviewers and users alike.

The Application is Busy or Missing.

Make sure you have Excel on your hard disk.

The Keyboard Doesn't Work -or-The Mouse Doesn't Work -or-The Screen is Frozen

Check the Macro menu. If it is darkened, you may be running a lengthy macro in the MacNail construction scheduling software. Check the message bar for progress indicators.

If nothing seems to be moving for more than 30 seconds or so, try typing Command-period to halt any macros in the MacNail project management software.

If that does not work, check the connections of your mouse and/or keyboard. They may have been accidentally detached.

If that does not work, you probably have a "System hang". Press the restart button (if you have it installed), or turn the computer off and then on again.

WARNING: All changes made since the last Save will be destroyed. Please Save frequently!

If you have many system hangs, you may have a software incompatibility. For best results, avoid Public Domain programs that have not been thoroughly tested. Keep INITs and other toys to a minimum. Use the latest version of System, Finder, and Excel. Test your computer for virus infections. In general, keep a "clean" system! Our programming cannot cause bombs and hangs-- the Excel macro language does not allow us to do anything that dangerous. However, we will be happy to advise you if you have frequent System problems.
