Project Punchlists

NOTE-- We retired MacNail back in 2000 or 2001, right after we introduced Goldenseal construction business software. Like MacNail, Goldenseal is built for home builders, remodelers and other project-based businesses. It's is "run your whole business" software that creates simple construction schedules, and also handles your accounting, construction estimating, and project management needs. Goldenseal has a Problem Log that helps you to track punch lists, bug lists, and any other problems that need fixing.

Project Punch Lists

The *Punch Lists command will create special reminder lists for a specific worker or subcontractor. Punch lists can be created from any or all Reminder Lists in the MacNail construction scheduling software.

You will find punchlists to be a useful management tool for making sure all of those little mistakes are corrected in a timely fashion. Print punch lists each week, or at critical construction milestones (e.g. framing completed, ready for rough inspection, final completion).

To make Punch Lists:

1. Choose *Punch Lists from the Data menu.
2. Put a check next to any worker for whom you'd like to make a punch list, then click OK. In the illustration above, only one punch list will be created-- an Electrician Punch List.
3. Select the source file type from the dialog box in the MacNail project management software.
4. All workers that are checked will receive a separate Punch List. Any items with that worker in the who? column will be included.
NOTE: The first two letters of each item in the who? column are searched-- so you don't have to type in the entire name. The Plumber Punch List will include any items with "plumber", "plumb", or "pl" in the who? column.
5. The punch list will be saved as a separate file named for the person involved-- Plumber Punch List. If you are using dates in report file names (see page 96), then today's date will also be included-- Plumber Punch List 12/1/90.
