NOTE-- We
retired our MacNail construction software package in
2000, and replaced it with Goldenseal project
management software. Goldenseal is designed for builders, remodelers
and other small businesses, providing accounting, construction
estimating, and project
scheduling features.
The project schedules created by Goldenseal are quick, easy and extremely useful! Importing to MacSchedule Software
To import a schedule from the MacNail construction scheduling
software into MacSchedule:
1. Quit Excel (unless you are using MultiFinder), and double-click on the MacNail MacSchedule blank file.
This file is a "template" that already has the correct format for a successful import.
2. Choose Timeline from the Options menu, and choose Dates from the hierarchical menu at the right. You will
see this dialog box.
3. Type the starting date that was used for the MacNail schedule into the bottom box. The rest of this dialog
box should remain the same.
4. Choose Import from the File menu.
5. The File Finder dialog box will appear. Move to the Scheduling Reports folder (inside the Schedules folder).
Click on the name of the file that you just exported, then click Open.
6. The the MacNail
project management software information will be
imported into MacSchedule. The process may take several minutes.
7. When the import has been completed, check the document size to make sure it fits the actual extent of
the project.
HINT: Choose Fit in Window from the Window menu to see a reduced view of the schedule.
8. To set the number of pages to use in each direction, choose Layout from the Options menu, then choose
Size from the hierarchical menu at the right. Click in the grid to select the proper number of pages to use
in each direction.
HINT: You can also use Page Setup from the File menu to print at reduced size, if your project is too large
to display at normal scale.
9. To adjust the way dates are displayed, time intervals, the width of each column, display colors, or weekends
shading-- choose the different commands available in the Options menu.
10. Choose Save As from the File menu to save the new MacSchedule schedule under whatever new file name you
choose.
WARNING: You must save the MacSchedule file under a new name. Do not save it as MacNail MacSchedule
Blank, since that is the "blank" template that will be used for future imports. If you do accidentally
save changes to MacNail MacSchedule Blank, go back to the original disk or to your backup, and re-copy the
original version onto your hard disk. |
