Exporting to MacSchedule

NOTE-- We retired MacNail construction software in 2000, and replaced it with Goldenseal construction management software. Goldenseal is a complete computer software package for builders and remodelers, providing accounting, estimating, and project management features, plus simple 'time line' project schedules. There is no export from Goldenseal to MacSchedule, since MacSchedule did not survive the transition to Macintosh OS X.

Exporting to the MacSchedule Scheduling Program

MacSchedule is also a "straight line" scheduling program for Macintosh computers. Although it doesn't have the sophistication of MacProject, it does create excellent Gantt (time-line) charts.

Setting up MacSchedule:

You must have the following documents available somewhere on your hard disk:
* MacSchedule.
* MacNail MacSchedule Blank, a MacSchedule document that can be found in the Schedule Links folder on the original MacNail Scheduling disk.

You may want to set up a MacSchedule folder on your hard disk-- either within the MacNail Schedules folder, or elsewhere.

To export a schedule from the MacNail project management software:
1. Create a schedule in MacNail Scheduling, as described in steps 1-4 of the FastTrack export (see page 112). Remember the starting date that you use, since you will need to know it, later on.
2. Choose *Export Schedule from the Data menu.
3. Click on the MacSchedule button, then click OK.
4. If a schedule is currently the active document (in front), it will be used to make the export. If a schedule is not active, then you will be asked to choose which schedule to use as a source.
5. MacNail will take anywhere between 1 and 5 minutes to process the schedule-- depending on the number of items in the schedule, and the speed of your computer.
6. The file will be automatically saved under the project name. If you exported the Smith Schedule, the export file will be called Smith MacSchedule Export. It will be saved in the Scheduling Reports folder.
