NOTE-- We retired the entire MacNail construction software package in 2000, and replaced it with Goldenseal construction scheduling software. Goldenseal is a complete computer software program for home builders and remodelers, providing accounting, estimating, and project scheduling features. It links to other project scheduling programs, but unfortunately MacProject is no longer available for Macintosh.

MacProject II is the most sophisticated of the three scheduling and project management software programs we currently support. It is a "critical path" scheduler for Macintosh computers, giving it the ability to calculate schedule timing based on the actual way that work is done. MacProject II handles both sequential tasks, and work done in parallel.

MacProject II includes many advanced features, such as resource leveling, subprojects, cash flow tracking, and coordination of multiple projects. These instructions will only cover a few of the basics on MacProject. Refer to the MacProject II manual for further instructions.

NOTE: You must have MacProject II, version 2.0 or greater. Earlier versions were not able to import information from other programs, and are not linkable to MacNail Scheduling.

Why link MacNail to MacProject II?

The biggest drawbacks with MacProject II in the past have been the difficulty in setting up your first project, and the time it took to figure out how long each step would take.

The MacNail construction scheduling software will solve both of these problems for you.

Our blank template-- MacNail Construction Blank-- already has all phases of residential/light commercial construction in place, with all MacNail construction categories arranged into a fairly typical order.

We also export very detailed information about crew sizes and item durations, based on the project information that we originally calculated in MacNail Estimating.

MacProject II solves many scheduling problems that can't be handled within the spreadsheet format, and offers many sophisticated scheduling features. The combination of MacNail and MacProject should help you immeasurably.
