Fixed Schedule Dates

NOTE-- In 2000 we retired MacNail, and replaced it with Goldenseal construction software. However we still keep the manuals online, for die-hard MacNail users! Goldenseal runs on Macintosh and Windows computers, and handles accounting, construction estimating, and project management, plus simple construction project scheduling. You can also enter fixed dates into Goldenseal schedules, which will adjust the start date of all items after the selected task.

Fixed Dates in a Project Schedule

To enter a fixed date in the MacNail construction scheduling software-- click in Column B of the desired row, and type in any acceptable Excel date (see page 130).

NOTE: If the worksheet is protected, choose Unprotect Document from the Options menu (see page 139).

All items after the fixed date cell will have their start date calculated from the new fixed date. Changes made to any schedule items before the fixed date cell will have no affect on items after the fixed date.

Use fixed dates to update the project schedule with reality-- you can enter the actual date work is started for a particular item, and have all subsequent items calculated from that more realistic date.

You can also enter a fixed date if an intermediate portion of the project can't be started until a particular time, no matter how much earlier the preceding work is completed.
