Adding Project Reminders

NOTE-- The entire MacNail software package is retired, and replaced with Goldenseal construction management software. The Goldenseal computer program is designed for remodelers, construction contractors, and other project-based businesses. Use it for accounting, construction estimating, and project management, plus simple construction scheduling. It's easy to add new items to the Problem Log in Goldenseal, and then track their completion.

Adding Project Reminders to the List

To add new reminders to any Reminder List in the MacNail construction scheduling software:
1. Type in appropriate information in the first blank line at the bottom of the reminder list.
2. If you need more blank lines, choose *Add Rows at Bottom from the Edit menu.
WARNING: Never use Excel's "Insert" menu command. It can cause serious damage to the formulas in a MacNail Reminder List.
3. If you want to add a reminder at a place other than the bottom rows, click in the desired row and choose *Add Rows Here from the Edit menu. A new blank line will be inserted at the selected location.

To remove reminders from the Reminder List when they are completed:
1. First drag the mouse through any cells in the row or rows that you would like to delete.
2. If you want to remove the reminder permanently, choose *Delete Rows from the Edit menu.
3. If you want to double-check the item before it is removed permanently, choose *Delete/Double-Check from the Edit menu. The rows will be removed from the reminder list, and transferred to the Double Check List.
NOTE: After you have checked to make sure the item has really been completed, you can remove it from the Double Check List with the *Delete Rows command.
4. As you delete completed reminders from the MacNail project management software, the unfinished reminders will gradually rise to the top of the list. This puts the oldest (and usually most urgent) items at the top, where they are more likely to attract results.

Getting Reminders from the Master Reminder List

The Master Reminder List allows you to type in different reminders from many different jobs at one time. After you have typed them in, you can use the Master Reminder List directly, or you can move all the reminders to the individual reminder lists for each project.

To move all reminders from the Master list to the individual Job Reminder Lists in one swell foop, choose *Get Master Reminders from the Data menu. All items will be removed from the Master Reminder List and added to the appropriate Job Reminder List (see page 92).

If a matching Job Reminder List is not found for the item, it will remain in the Master Reminder List.
