Project Dimensions

NOTE-- In 2000 we retired MacNail and BidMagic (our earlier estimating computer programs), and replaced them with Goldenseal estimating software. There are still die-hard MacNail users, so we keep its manuals available online. Goldenseal also includes accounting, job costing and project management. In Goldenseal, you'll add the yard and lot area into the Exterior Dimensions screen.

Project Cost

Type in a 'guesstimate' for the total cost of the project (in dollars) into this field in the MacNail construction estimating software. If the calculated project cost is different, you can come back later and change this number. Project cost is used for a few items such as building permits. Jobtotal is the variable name you will use in formulas (note that it is spelled as one word).

NOTE: Using the calculated total price here would generate a 'circular reference'--which takes much longer to calculate!

Yard

Type in the area (in square feet) to be landscaped, graded, or covered with lawn. The yard area will be regraded, reseeded, raked, and cleaned. For additions, remodels and gut/rehabs, include the area that will be damaged during construction. Yard is the variable name to use in formulas.

Lot

Type in the total area of the lot (in square feet). This will often be the same size as the yard. The lot area will be cleared of vegetation. Lot is the variable name to use in formulas.
