Importing Estimates

NOTE-- In 2000 we replaced MacNail estimating and accounting, with Goldenseal construction estimating software. There are still plenty of die-hard MacNail users, so we keep the manuals online for their use! Goldenseal is an integrated software program that also includes accounting, scheduling and contract writing features. Goldenseal uses spreadsheet-like item lists as in MacNail, but its dimension screens are more similar to HyperEstimator (or its now-retired successor, BidMagic).

More Estimating Details

Some more differences between MacNail and HyperEstimator estimating software:

Multiple Sidings, Framing Sizes, Wall Finishes, etc.

The Hyper*Estimators do not allow multiple choices for these basic construction items. The total area will be entered into whatever type of material you chose in the Hyper*Estimators. In the MacNail construction estimating software, edit the quantities in the 'units used ' column to change what is actually used on the project.

Other Items

Items that you type onto the Other Items Specifications card of the Hyper*Estimators will not transfer to MacNail. You will need to use the 'other' rows to enter them manually in the desired sections.

Painting

The transfer from the Hyper*Estimators to MacNail takes a few shortcuts. In some situations, you may need to adjust the actual quantities of paint area.

Septic Tank

The excavation and plumbing portions of septic tank work are set separately in the Hyper*Estimators. For best results, check trenching and septic tank (Excavation) and sewers (Plumbing), to make sure everything is included.

Tub Surround

A tub surround will be entered for each bathroom, regardless of the number of tubs and showers. You may need to adjust this quantity.
