Estimating Framing Dimensions |
NOTE--We retired MacNail back in 2000, and replaced it with the Goldenseal building framing estimating software. There are still many die-hard MacNail users, so we keep the manuals online for them! Goldenseal is a complete small-business software package that includes estimating, accounting, job costing and project management features. Goldenseal includes a Starter File just for framing estimates. It also has framing dimensions in the Structural Dimensions screen. Sheathing Thickness Type in the thickness (in eighths of an inch) of the sheathing material to be used in the construction project. For half-inch plywood, for example, type a 4 into the MacNail construction estimating software. For 3/4" plywood, type a 6. If you are using poured concrete walls upstairs, type in the thickness of the wall instead (measured in inches). Stud and Joist Spacing Type in the spacing of studs or joists for each surface (measured in
studs per foot). If more than one spacing is to be used, type in the spacing that is used most often.
Common spacings will be entered as follows: Miscellaneous Dimensions Type in the spacing between piers or poles, if you use a pier or pole foundation for the building. Type in the length of party walls for each floor, if you
are building a multiple-unit building. Any wall that will need special fire treatment
should be entered here. |
