Quality, Locality & Sales Tax

NOTE-- In 2000 we retired MacNail and BidMagic (our previous estimating programs), and replaced them with Goldenseal construction estimating software. There are still die-hard MacNail and BidMagic users, so we keep their manuals online! Goldenseal includes similar estimating software features, plus accounting, job costing and project management. You can enter sales tax as a line item estimated expense, in Goldenseal estimates, or add it as a regular tax item to eventually pay to a tax agency.

Quality and Locality

These two factors are not currently used in the MacNail construction estimating software. They have been included for compatibility with future expansions of MacNail. If your MacNail estimate was imported from one of the Hyper*Estimators, there will be values in these cells. They will not actually be used, however, by MacNail 3.0.

Sales Tax

Type in your local sales tax rates for labor, materials and subcontractors, respectively. If you are near the boundary between two tax jurisdictions, you may need to type in a weighted average between their respective tax rates. If, for any reason, you do not charge sales tax, type a 0 (zero) into each cell in the sales tax row.
