Estimating Format

NOTE-- We retired MacNail estimating in 2000, and replaced it with Goldenseal construction estimating software. There are still die-hard MacNail users, so we keep the manuals online for their use! Goldenseal is an integrated program that also includes accounting, scheduling and contract writing features. It has many more estimating features than MacNail.

FORMAT menu

The FORMAT menu will allow you to set the way each estimate is displayed in the MacNail construction estimating software.

Bring Estimate to Front

Choose *Bring Estimate to Front when you are working on several documents at one time, and want to bring an estimate to the front of the screen.

The estimate that is furthest back will be brought to the front. This allows you to switch between estimates if you have more than one estimate open.

Command key shortcut: Option-Command-B.

Reset Unit Price Display

Choose *Reset Unit Price Display to show or hide the unit price columns in the MacNail construction estimator software.

This command will hide the last four columns if they are currently displayed, and show them if currently hidden.
Hiding the unit prices gives you more room on the screen, and makes the worksheet look much less cluttered.

Show the unit prices when you are changing unit prices (page 144) or entering new items (page 147) in the Specifications list.

Also show the unit prices when you are entering financial items (page 90) or thicknesses (page 92) into Dimensions.
