Estimate Troubleshooting

NOTE-- Goldenseal construction estimating software replaced MacNail back in 2000. There are still quite a few MacNail users, so we keep the manuals online for their use! Goldenseal is an integrated program that also includes accounting, job costing and project management features. It doesn't use the Excel spreadsheet, so most of the problems mentioned here do not apply to Goldenseal.

Blank worksheet opens when you double click on a document -or-Can't find application

Your excel version number is less than the version required to open this document with the MacNail construction estimating software.

Can't Paste, -or-Can 't Fill Down

Press the ENTER key. Unprotect the document. In Excel 2.2, switch to short menus.

Document name could not be opened

Check your file names and folder arrangements (see page 14). The file named Document name could not be found where it was supposed to be.

Enter Key doesn't work

The ENTER Key doesn't move to another cell when the document is not protected. Use the RETURN or TAB keys or protect the document.

Everything is empty cells

You have probably scrolled down past the bottom of the worksheet. Slide the 'slide bar' at the right side of the window all the way to the top.

Everything looks grey

You may have moved off to the right. Slide the scroll bar at the bottom of the screen all the way to the left.

There is a bug in some versions of Excel that will randomly turn the worksheet partially grey. Move around the worksheet, and the screen will reappear.
