Labor & Material Modifiers-- Price Master

NOTE-- We retired the MacNail estimating program in 2000, and replaced it with Goldenseal construction estimating software. There are still a significant number of die-hard MacNail users, so we keep the manuals online for them! Goldenseal is an integrated program that also includes accounting, scheduling and contract writing. There are also modifiers in Goldenseal, accessible in the Assemblies.

Labor/Material modifiers in a Price Master

Labor and material formula modifiers are stored in a Price Master file in the 'labor mult' and 'mat mult' columns. All that is listed in these columns is the additional part of the formula. If the item uses the 'plain' unmodified formula (as most items do), then these columns will be blank.

To change a formula modifier, simply type new text into the appropriate column. In most cases you'll multiply the cost by some dimension, so most modifiers will consist of a * (multiplier) symbol plus a MacNail dimension.

EXAMPLE: To multiply the cost of all labor by the the slabthickness dimension, type *slabthickness into the 'labor multiplier' column.

To remove a formula modifier, click on it and type the Delete or Backspace key.
