Construction Estimator Structure

NOTE-- We retired the MacNail estimating program in 2000, and replaced it with Goldenseal construction estimating software. There are still a significant number of die-hard MacNail users, so we keep the manuals online for them! Goldenseal is an integrated program that also includes accounting, scheduling and contract writing. In Goldenseal, the equivalent of a MacNail estimator would be an Estimate template.

Estimators

Most of the work done by MacNail Customizing is aimed at setting up construction Estimator files that will put together bids just the way you'd like them to, using up-to-date prices that are right for your business.
It helps to know how an estimator is put together before you start to tinker with it!

Overall Structure of an Estimator

Each MacNail estimating worksheet is divided into several distinct sections, each with a particular role. When you use the MacNail construction management software to create a new estimator or to change an existing one, all necessary changes are made in each section of the estimator.

HINT: When you are using MacNail Estimating or MacNail Customizing, you can get to each part of the estimating worksheet by choosing one of the commands in the MacNail (McN) menu.
