Showing Estimated Labor Hours

NOTE-- We retired the MacNail estimating program in 2000, and replaced it with Goldenseal construction estimating software. There are still a significant number of die-hard MacNail users, so we keep the manuals online for them! Goldenseal is an integrated program that also includes accounting, scheduling and contract writing. In Goldenseal, it's easier to see labor hours from estimates.

Estimated Labor Hours

The MacNail construction estimating software does not show labor person-hours directly. Instead, it converts the labor person-hour information directly into a dollar labor cost for each line item in the Specifications. These dollar costs are then summarized by cost category in the Clearinghouse and Summation.

To display actual person-hour figures on any MacNail estimating worksheet, make sure the estimate or estimator is the active document, then choose Labor Hour Formulas from the Formula menu.

Skilled and unskilled hours will be displayed to the right of the cost breakdown in the Summation.

If the estimating worksheet has a Clearinghouse, it will also show actual labor hours to the right of the cost breakdown.

The formulas used to calculate actual labor hours will slow down the recalculation speed for the worksheet. To speed things up, you can choose Labor Hour Formulas again-- the formulas will be removed, and the worksheet will be restored to its original condition.
