Deleting a Cost Subcategory

NOTE-- We retired the MacNail estimating program in 2000, and replaced it with Goldenseal construction estimating software. There are still a significant number of die-hard MacNail users, so we keep the manuals online for them! Goldenseal is an integrated program that also includes accounting, scheduling and contract writing features. In Goldenseal, you can easily delete any estimating subcategories you don't need.

Deleting Construction Subcategories

To delete just a subcategory from a MacNail construction estimate or estimator, follow these steps:

1. Go to the Clearinghouse or Specifications section of the estimating worksheet.
2. Click the mouse anywhere within the subcategory you'd like to remove.
NOTES: You'll only be able to delete a subcategory if the active estimate or estimator includes a Clearinghouse section! You cannot delete a subcategory if it is the only subcategory in its category! Each main category must have at least one subcategory.
3. Choose Delete Category from the Format menu.
4. Click Delete subcategory only at the first dialog, then click OK.
5. The selected subcategory will be permanently deleted. If necessary, other subcategories in the category will be renumbered to preserve their proper numerical sequence.

NOTE: You can only delete one subcategory at a time. If you select more than one subcategory, the MacNail construction management software will only delete the top subcategory.
