Changing Estimator Line Items |
NOTE-- We retired the MacNail estimating program in 2000, and replaced it with Goldenseal construction estimating software. There are still a significant number of die-hard MacNail users, so we keep the manuals online for them! Goldenseal is an integrated program that also includes accounting, scheduling and contract writing features. It's also easy to change any line items in a Goldenseal Estimate. Changing Construction Line Items You can change an existing Specifications line item by typing in new information, just as you would do for a new item. Simply select the appropriate cells in the existing line item and type in new information as described in steps 1 to 9 of the previous pages. If you make minor changes to an existing item (for example, different unit prices), keep the same code number-- just choose Flag Item to 'flag' it as changed. Later on you can move the changes to other estimating worksheets or to a Price Master with the Move Prices command (see pages 93-95 and 221-223). If you change an existing item to something completely new, be sure to change the code number as well so The MacNail construction management software will recognize it as a new item. WARNING: If you use the same code number even after changing the item, then material takeoffs and material price updating may be done incorrectly-- since they will still be based on the material assembly used for the original code number. If you change the item title (column A), MacNail Customizing will consider it to be a new item when you use the Move Prices command-- it will either alert you to that fact, or install it as a new item with a new code number (depending on whether you've checked the 'alert for problems' check box in the Move Prices command). |
