Floor Cut and Header Framing Cost

Construction Item Description

Construction unit cost for a cut through a ceiling or floor, with installation of headers.

This cost is just for the cut and header framing. It does not assume any finish work or patching of fninished surfaces. It's designed for cuts made for ceiling stairs, new stairways and other major remodeling.

If the cut covers a large area and requires removal of additional materials, enter that demolition cost separately.

Unit Size

One cut.

Labor Costs

We figure 2.2 hours of carpenter time for making the cut and framing the new headers.

Material Costs

16 feet of 2x10 lumber, some joist hangers and fasteners. That will get you doubled headers on both ends of a 4 foot opening.

Suggested Quantity

No suggestion. Enter the number of floor cuts required.

Source of Construction Pricing

Based on crew timing from a couple of remodeling projects done by Turtle Creek Construction.
