Server is Busy Message

I'm getting a "server is busy" message on a client!

Check the server machine. If it is showing an error message, click OK to the message. You may need to restart the server copy of Goldenseal multi-user accounting software.

HINT-- Please let us know if you see any Oops messages in Goldenseal! Tell us the message, including the file name and line number at the bottom. It will help us to make Goldenseal more reliable!

Blocking Error Messages

If you have many clients or if the server is in a remote location, follow these steps to prevent it from showing error messages and "hanging up" the clients:

  1. Choose Preferences from the Options menu on the server machine, and choose Network from the submenu.
  2. Turn off the Allow Data Entry in Server checkbox.
  3. Click OK.

Chronic Server Errors

A few users have reported conflicts between recent versions of Goldenseal and recent versions of Internet Explorer. Try running Goldenseal on a computer that is not running other software.

Reinstalling a different version of QuickTime may sometimes help with chronic server problems in Goldenseal multi-user for Windows. The latest version of QuickTime is available for free download from www.apple.com. We also provide the installer for a slightly older copy on the Goldenseal CD. Uninstall your current version of QuickTime before installing the new version.

We would like to hear details of any frequent, chronic or intermittent Goldenseal server problems-- it will help us with our ongoing efforts to increase Goldenseal's reliability. If you have problems, please let us know the following. What error message is it giving? When does the problem happen? What kind of hardware are you running, and which version of Windows are you using?
