Concrete Footings, Walls & Slabs

Problem

why are there two items for concrete footer footings (per cu. yd & per ft)? Why are they linked?
(same q for other linked lines in Specifications portion of MacNail construction estimating software)

Diagnosis

We use two items so a footer of ANY size can be handled. The 'per lin ft' cost is for forms and installing them, the 'per yard' cost is for concrete and installing it.
Bigger footings take more 'per yard' costs but cost about the same per foot, so having two numbers is more accurate than having just one.

Solution

It is similar for:
Concrete Walls-- 'per yard' covers concrete, 'per sf' covers forms
Concrete Slabs--'per yard' covers concrete, 'per sf' covers finishing and reinforcing
