Concrete construction unit cost for installation of concrete footings for a foundation or retaining wall.

This cost covers the cost per foot of any size of footing. Use it in combination with the footing cost per yard.

NOTE-- This is half of a two-part unit cost that covers any footing size. Goldenseal also includes one-part unit costs for footings in two common sizes, 6x16 and 8x24.

We figure that a crew of one skilled worker and one unskilled worker can install about 7 feet of footing per hour.

This cost includes final grading and tamping of the excavated area, placement of lumber forms and reinforcing rods, and removal of forms after the concrete pour has been completed.

The cost includes 2x4 forms for the side walls, and two lengths of reinforcing rod in the footing.

The lumber uses a negative waste factor since it probably can be reused, though at reduced value.

"Footings" and "footers" are two regional terms for the same thing-- the spread foundation beneath a block or poured concrete foundation wall or stem wall.

Google shows 1,300,000 hits for the term "concrete footings", and only 830,000 hits for "concrete footers", so it looks like the former is more popular, at least by a big toe or two.

NOTE-- Then again, Google also shows 19,000 hits for the term "concrete footsie", for those contractors who like to flirt with their foundations...
