Windows 95 Hints

Problem

WIN95 HINTS for MacNail construction software
windows 95-- desktop, shortcuts, explorer

Diagnosis

To close a window, click in the 'x' on the right side of the title bar.
Clicking anywhere in the desktop (right button?) gives you a menu. You can explore, create shortcuts (aliases), etc. Actually, you can explore from about anywhere - it seems to be a choice in most menus!

Solution

The Explorer (what you get when you explore, of course) is a lot like the File Manager. Tree on the left, file list on the right. The hard drive can have a name, but the drive letter should be in parentheses after that. There is an additional level at the top of the tree for the machine itself. If the machine is on a network other machines could be listed, I guess. By default the name of the user's machine is 'My Computer'.
Another way to see Explorer- hit Start button, go to Programs, choose Windows Explorer. User can change this configuration, but most don't.

Comments

Shortcuts are pretty handy, just like Mac aliases. Click the right mouse button on the item for which you want a shortcut. A menu will pop up. Choose Create Shortcut. Only problem is, if you move the original the shortcut will be confused!
