Record and Menu Counts

Problem

error message in Goldenseal accounting software- "Sorry, there is a mismatch between the record count and menu count in xxx"

Diagnosis

This happens when they first open the file. The Goldenseal accounting software program does some "sanity checking" and warns if the record count is not the same as the number of items in the menu array.

Solution

Version 1.06 and earlier. Ignore it. This may be from a minor bug in early versions, where items would sometimes not be added to stored arrays for menus. Or it may be from record(s) that were not finished before an unexpected quit or power shutoff. If an item doesn't show in a clairvoyant field, go change that item and it will be added then.

Version 1.07 to 2.3- it should give an ID for the first missing record. Can go to it and make a change.

Version 2.3 up-- Goldenseal now makes repairs automatically. By now it looks like we've caught all the problems that can throw off the record and menu system. If it is reported anyhow, log a bug report and ask the user to send us the file so we can look at it here.

NOTE-- We have heard this problem once or twice after imports of data, when the incoming data uses the same record ID number twice. As of version 2.9 Goldenseal accounting software will clean up duplicate record ID's, so the error should only happen once.
