Windows, Doors & Misc Dimensions

NOTE-- We retired the BidMagic construction estimating software in 2001. It has been replaced by Goldenseal construction estimating software.

We still include this BidMagic estimating software manual as a convenience for users of our older program. Many features are similar, in Goldenseal estimating.

From the Exterior Dimensions card, click the Right Arrow button to get to the Misc Dimensions card.

HINT: You can also choose Dimensions from the Navigate menu, then click the Misc button. For still another way to get to this card, click on the Compass button and choose Dimensions, then choose Miscellaneous from the submenu.

The Misc. Dimensions card allows you to enter information about windows and doors, plus a few additional numbers describing the project.

Doors and Windows

Enter the quantity and opening size for windows, skylights, interior doors and exterior doors. The total area of each type of opening will be calculated for you.

NOTE: These opening sizes will be subtracted when net areas are calculated on the Finish Dimensions card.

Enter the number of custom doors being hung from site-built jambs, and the average width of window and door trim.

NOTE: Trim width is used only if you are cutting trim out of board stock and compute trim on a board foot basis.

Other Dimensions

Also enter the number of interior and exterior corners, the length of baseboards (and their width, if cutting them from board stock). Finally, enter the number of closets, the total footage of shelving, the number of stairways, and the walk-in attic storage area.
