Exterior Dimensions

NOTE-- We retired the BidMagic construction estimating software in 2001. It has been replaced by Goldenseal construction estimating software.

We still include this BidMagic estimating software manual as a convenience for users of our older program. Many features are similar, in Goldenseal estimating.

From the Structural Info card, click the Right Arrow button to get to the Exterior Dimensions card.

HINT: You can also choose Dimensions from the Navigate menu, then click the Exteriors button, or click on the Compass button and choose Dimensions, then choose Exteriors from the submenu.

The Exterior Structures card allows you to enter measurements for garages, decks, porches and sheds, a few other exterior items, plus a few vertical measurements.

Exterior Structures

Use the check box to turn on any of the four basic types of exterior structures (garages, decks, porches and sheds) that will actually be worked on as a part of the project. For each item that is included, enter the floor area, perimeter (length around the outside) and contact length with the main building.

Ground Work

If any landscaping, finish grading or exterior cleanup will be part of the project, turn on the Ground Work button, and enter the yard area (portions receiving landscaping) and the total lot area.

Volumes & Slopes

Enter the amount of trash volume you expect to remove, the total volume of the project, and the average ground slope outside the project.

Vertical Measurements

Also enter quantities in the four 'vertical' measurements for the project--the average height of the first floor off the ground, the height of the top floor ceiling from the first floor, the elevation difference between top floor ceiling and eaves, and the height of the highest roof point relative to the top floor ceiling.
