Structural Dimensions

NOTE-- We retired the BidMagic construction estimating software in 2001. It has been replaced by Goldenseal construction estimating software.

We still include this BidMagic estimating software manual as a convenience for users of our older program. Many features are similar, in Goldenseal estimating.

From the Roof Dimensions card, click the Right Arrow button to get to the Structural Dimensions card.

HINT: You can also choose Dimensions from the Navigate menu, then click the Structural button. Another way to get to this card--click on the Compass button and choose Dimensions, then choose Structural from the submenu

The Structural Info card allows you to enter specific structural measurements.

Framing Quantities

For each of the listed surfaces, enter the area (for roof, ceiling and floors) or the lineal footage (for interior and exterior walls) that will actually get new framing or other structural materials (see page 217).

HINT: You can enter a number, or 'lock' the number so it is calculated for you.

Thickness & Spacing

Use the cycle buttons to choose the thickness of each structure, the thickness of sheathing or subflooring used, and the stud/joist/rafter spacing.

NOTE: To see a pop-up list of choices, hold down the Option key while clicking on the cycle button. You can add new choices to the cycle button if necessary.

Demolition

For each surface, also enter the amount of structural and surface demolition that will be required. You can enter separate quantities for structural demolition (framing and masonry), and for surface demolition (wallboard, siding and roofing) on each part of the project.

Party Walls, Subfloor & Gutting

At the bottom of the card, enter the lineal footage and area for party walls (between separate living units), the area of subfloor to be installed, and the amount of wallboard that will be gutted.
