More Room Dimensions

NOTE-- We retired the BidMagic construction estimating software in 2001. It has been replaced by Goldenseal construction estimating software.

We still include this BidMagic estimating software manual as a convenience for users of our older program. Many features are similar, in Goldenseal estimating.

Room Information

Type a name for the room into the upper left corner of the card.

NOTE: This room name will show up in the Room menu and in the 'pop-up' list of rooms on the Dimensions card. Click the button on the appropriate story of the 'house,' and use the cycle button to set the room type.
If the room is being built completely new, click on the New Room button. If you are remodeling an existing room, click Existing Room instead.

NOTE: If the room is partly new and partly existing, treat it as two rooms.

Room Dimensions

Enter the length of each wall in the room. If the East wall is locked it will be equal to the West wall, and if the South wall is locked it will be equal to the North wall. Unlock the quantities if the room is not a simple rectangle.

If Floor Area and Ceiling Area are locked, they will be calculated for you--using the average of the east and west walls times the average of the north and south walls. Unlock either field to enter your own areas.

If the room contains any walls that are completely within the room, enter them into the Partition Length field.

HINT: You can include attached closets as part of a room.

Also enter the average Ceiling Height.

Work done in the Room

To specify exactly what work will be done in the room, click on the desired surfaces in the six 'exploded room' diagrams in the bottom half of the card. When you darken a surface, that work will be included in the project.

HINT: Each diagram shows the same surfaces as are displayed in the larger diagram at upper right.
