Planning Estimates

NOTE-- We retired the BidMagic construction estimating software program in 2001. It has been replaced by Goldenseal construction estimating software, which has improved features for client presentations and planning estimates.

We still include this BidMagic estimating software manual as a convenience for users of our older program. Many features are similar, in Goldenseal estimating.

Making Planning Estimates

With the client present, you can use the BidMagic construction estimating software program to come up with a quick 'ballpark' price by following these steps:

  1. Go through each of the Dimensions cards and enter measurements for the project. HINT: If the client is not sure about size, enter 'starter' numbers--your best guess of how large each measurement will be. You can always come back later and enter more accurate numbers when the project design is further along.
  2. Go through each Specifications card, and enter each cost that you feel will need to be included in the project.
HINT: You can probably enter things like excavation without much discussion. In roofing, trim, and other 'discretionary' items, it's a good chance to discuss different possibilities with the client.
  3. Whenever you want to see a price for what's already been entered, click the Calculator button.
