Using Fields in Estimates

NOTE-- We retired the BidMagic construction estimating software in 2001. It has been replaced by Goldenseal construction estimating software.

We still include this BidMagic estimating software manual as a convenience for users of our older program. Many features are similar, in Goldenseal estimating.

Entering Numbers into Fields

Each number field in the BidMagic construction estimating software has a nudge button to change its value. You can also type into a field from the keyboard. To do so:

  1. Double-click the mouse in the field. This will select (darken) the number that is already there.
  2. Type in a new number.
  3. Click the Enter key to enter the number, or click the Tab key to enter it and move on to the next field.

HINT: You can also click once in a field, then use the text-editing cursor to add additional digits, or drag the mouse through some digits in a field so you can edit them.

Moving between Fields

Once you've entered a number into a field, use the Tab key to move on to the next field on that card. Use the Tab key to 'step' through each field on a card--when you reach the bottom, Tab will jump you back up to the first field on the card.

To move backwards, hold down the Shift key while pressing the Tab key.

Correcting Mistakes

If you are typing in a field and make a mistake, use the Backspace or Delete key to erase the last digit you typed.

To go back to the number that was originally in a field, choose Undo from the Edit menu (or type Command-Z) before you leave the field.
