Estimating Complex Foundations

NOTE-- We retired the BidMagic construction estimating software in 2001. It has been replaced by Goldenseal construction estimating software.

We still include this BidMagic estimating software manual as a convenience for users of our older program. Many features are similar, in Goldenseal estimating.

Complex and Hybrid Foundations

The BidMagic estimating software can handle any kind of complex or hybrid foundation, if the one you are using on your project does not fall neatly into one of the preceding categories.

Measure the total quantities for each of the four types of foundation work shown on the Foundation Dimensions card, and enter them as needed.

If you have more than one size of footings, grade beams, walls, piers or slabs, enter either a weighted average for the size, or the size that is used most often.

If you use the average size, choose actual foundation items in Specifications just as if the foundation was all one size-- you should be pretty close, as long as your calculation of the weighted average size was accurate.

If you use the most common size, adjust the quantities in Specifications so you cover each type of work. For example, if you have more than one footing size, you might have several different line items, as shown above.
