Finishing Estimates in MacNail

NOTE-- We retired the BidMagic construction estimating software in 2001. It has been replaced by Goldenseal construction estimating software.

We still include this BidMagic estimating software manual as a convenience for users of our older program. Many features are similar, in Goldenseal estimating.

Finishing the Bid in MacNail

Once you have imported a bid into MacNail Estimating, treat it just like a bid that you started in MacNail Estimating. Check the MacNail Estimating Manual for more detailed information about MacNail estimates.
Basic Costs, Overhead, Soft Costs and Dimensions from BidMagic will show up in the Basic Costs and Dimensions portions of the MacNail estimate.

NOTE: You can change any values once you are working in MacNail, if you don 't like what was imported from BidMagic.

Dimensions that were locked in BidMagic will still have their calculation formulas intact in MacNail. Items that were unlocked will overwrite the formula that calculates them in MacNail.

NOTE: If importing a remodeling project into MacNail Estimating 3.3 or earlier, calculation formulas based on room measurements will be over-written, even if the dimension formula is locked in BidMagic.

Each Specifications line item in BidMagic will show up in the corresponding category in the Specifications portion of the MacNail estimate. 'Other' items added in BidMagic will be added to MacNail under the corresponding category.

NOTE: Specifications that were locked in BidMagic will use the suggested formula from MacNail. Items that were unlocked will use a fixed value that will not change if the suggested value changes.

The MacNail bid will probably not have an identical bottom line as the BidMagic bid, since skilled wage rates are different in the two programs, unit prices may be different for some items, locality and quality factors are not used in MacNail, and soft costs are calculated differently.
