Exporting Estimates to MacNail

NOTE-- We retired the BidMagic construction estimating software in 2001. It has been replaced by Goldenseal construction estimating software.

We still include this BidMagic estimating software manual as a convenience for users of our older program. Many features are similar, in Goldenseal estimating.

Exporting Estimates to MacNail

Bids or estimates created in BidMagic can be exported to MacNail Estimating. The export allows you to do a quick rough estimate in BidMagic, then turn it into a high-accuracy finished bid in MacNail.

Exporting from BidMagic

Follow these steps to export a bid from BidMagic to MacNail:
1. Create a BidMagic bid. Put in as much or as little detail as you have time for.
2. Choose Export Bid to MacNail from the Data menu.
3. You'll be asked to type in a project name. Type in the name you'd like to give the job (up to 13 characters), then click OK.
4. If you are using BidMagic for the first time, or if you recently moved BidMagic to a different folder, or moved the BidMagic folder, you'll be asked to locate the Transfer Manager. Otherwise, skip to step 6.
5. Navigate through folders until you are inside the BidMagic folder. Select the Transfer Manager, then click Open.

6. The bid will be exported from BidMagic automatically (it may take a few minutes). A file named for the project, plus 'Export' and today's date, will be created. This file can then be opened by the Transfer Manager to complete the link.
